Amelia is a Mystic native and graduate of The Community College of Rhode Island’s prestigious Therapeutic Massage Therapy Program. Her background includes training in swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, and shiatsu techniques. Amelia holds her 2nd degree Reiki certification in Usui/ Holy Fire II Reiki.
Amelia found massage therapy after looking for a way to use her hands in a healing, supportive way similar to what she found when she was a baker and a farmer. In the way that she knows how to cultivate and create nourishment for the body through food, she hopes massage can help do the same through therapeutic touch.
Massage is a relaxing and restorative experience involving the manipulation of soft tissue structures of the body to help prevent and alleviate pains, muscle discomfort, and stress. The therapist will work with the client to address specific needs and goals during the treatment. 30 minute massage will address specific areas of the body with a more focused approach. 60 minute massage can be a full body treatment with more attention on areas of concern.
Reiki is the universal life energy that flows through all living things. It is a Japanese form of healing that treats the whole person; body, mind and spirit while promoting relaxation and feelings of peace, security and wellbeing. During a Reiki session, the therapist gently places her hands in various positions on the client’s body. The purpose of a Reiki session is to encourage the flow of positive healing energy to wherever the body needs it. The therapist will work together with the client to address specific concerns and areas that need attention. One can expect to feel relaxed and to have a better sense of well being after a treatment.
90 min massage is a full body treatment with enough time to address specific areas with more detail. A combination 30 min massage with a 30 min Reiki session will begin with a general relaxation massage, preparing the body and mind for a 30 min Reiki treatment.
